Hannah Schierbeek

Hannah Schierbeek is a Chicago-based writer-director known for her short films A Black Hole Near Kent County (Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival) and An Alternative Method (BFI Future Film Festival). Utilizing the North American Midwest as her cosmos, Schierbeek’s films explore intimate interpersonal stories backdropped by today’s socioecological dilemmas.

The Creature of Darkness

Darkness settles over Little Egypt. Brielle, Karri, and Nunu wander among the limestone outcrops and sandstone spires. In a cave that hid freedom seekers along the Underground Railroad, their uncle shares a story of a creature that stirs at night.
